Rhode Island Tradition | Apple Picking in fall

November 14, 2015

By now, we are entrenched in the season of fall. I mean, personally, it’s getting too close for comfort to winter for me, but I’m working on accepting that, yet again….as I do every time my beloved season of summer ends. But yes, there ARE things I do like about fall: vibrant and colorful leaves, cozy sweaters, butternut squash soup, and of course, apple picking. What defines fall in New England more than apple picking? [pause] Can’t come up with a better answer, can you? That’s ok. I wasn’t looking to be challenged anyway :) Apple picking in fall has become a ritual for us. It’s a fun outing for the kids, a check mark for the day’s nutrition, a precursor to some homemade apple pie, and yes,  good old “quality time” with family.

We spent some time at Narrow Lane Orchard in North Kingstown for our excursion, along with a ton of other apple pickers that day! Here’s a glimpse into this year’s outing….
