Spending time together outdoors is one of the best ways to capture natural, connected family photos—especially when you’re photographing a family of five with children at different stages. This relaxed session at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick, Rhode Island features my friend Stacey and her delightful family in a high energy, toddler chasing portrait experience filled with laughter, lots of running around (whew!), and genuine connection. The open fields and soft golden hour light set Goddard Park as a beautiful backdrop for family portraits that feel timeless, honest and real.
There’s an easy sense of connection throughout this session, from small moments of laughter to the way this family naturally comes together. It’s clear they enjoy spending time with one another and value creating memories, which is always the heart of a family photo session. And always my goal! These moments are so fleeting and our kids grow so fast!
Goddard Park itself offers a beautiful mix of open fields, expansive tree lines, and waterfront views, making it an ideal location for family portraits in any season. The variety of scenery allows sessions to feel relaxed and casual, with space for kids to explore and parents to settle into natural moments together.
Family photos don’t have to feel stiff or overly posed to be meaningful. Sessions like this one at Goddard Park are all about giving families space to be themselves—whether that’s playful moments with younger kids or quieter connections as children grow. If you’re thinking about updating your own family portraits and want an experience that feels organic, real, and true to your family, I’d love to help you plan a session that fits this season of life.

This Goddard Park family portrait session reflects exactly what I love about photographing families outdoors—natural moments, connection, and room to simply be together.
