This New England love story unfolded across places and time, beginning with portraits at Michael and Ryan’s Saltwater Farm Vineyard elopement, followed by a meaningful courthouse ceremony in Westerly, Rhode Island. From there, the day continued with a quick pitstop at their favorite coffee house, and finally, some classic, romantic portraits at the Ocean House along the coast. One year later, the story came full circle as Michael and Ryan gathered again at Saltwater Farm Vineyard to celebrate with the people they love—proof that a wedding doesn’t have to fit into a single day to be complete.
The elopement day itself brought crazy New England weather—rainy, windy, and unpredictable—but Michael and Ryan met it with calm, good humor, and an openness to whatever the day held. Rather than letting the conditions define the experience, they stayed present with one another, allowing the moments to unfold naturally. Despite the weather, we created meaningful, honest images that reflected who they are together. By the time we arrived at Ocean House, the rain had let up a bit, giving us the chance to be outside for some signature portraits that are instantly associated with this iconic venue.
A year later, the rainy, windy, slightly chaotic energy of their elopement gave way to something a bit different—and just as meaningful. In December, Ryan and Michael returned to Saltwater Farm Vineyard to celebrate with a warm, joyful gathering of friends and family, transforming the space with bold jewel-toned floral centerpieces, soft twinkle lights, and thoughtful personal details. The evening was full of laughter, easy conversation, and the kind of warmth that comes from being surrounded by people who have shown up again and again. It wasn’t a reenactment of their wedding day, but an expansion of it—proof that love doesn’t lose momentum with time, it gathers it.
At the center of both days were two truly wonderful people—and the kind you hope every wedding day brings your way. Loyal, kind-hearted, and genuinely warm, Michael and Ryan showed up with grace in every sense of the word, from navigating wild weather with good humor to making sure everyone around them felt seen and appreciated. They were gracious, respectful, and quietly generous in the way that matters most. Photographing couples like this is a reminder that great images don’t come from perfect conditions, but from people who bring a lot of heart (and a very good attitude) with them wherever the day leads.
Together, the elopement and the celebration tell a fuller story than either could on its own. From a day shaped by wind, rain, and spontaneity to a winter evening filled with warmth, intention, and the people who matter most, each moment reflected the same steady foundation—connection, resilience, and a genuine joy in being together. It was a reminder that there’s no single right way to celebrate a marriage, only the way that feels true to you. Being invited to document both chapters was a privilege, and watching their story unfold over time made it all the more meaningful.
