This was it. Their wedding day. Emily and Mike’s long-awaited, joy-filled celebration.
From their engagement in 2022 to saying “I do” in late 2025, the anticipation had definitely been building. And when the day finally arrived? I could not have been more excited for them.
Their fall wedding at Wrights Mill Farm in Connecticut was truly one for the books. The property itself is a dream — acres of stunning landscape where sunlight filters gently through lush trees, a serene waterfall tucked nearby for the outdoor ceremony, a charming covered bridge that feels like it was designed specifically for portraits, and a rustic-yet-modern barn that sets the perfect tone for a cozy, elevated reception.
They embraced a bold, vibrant color palette that fit the autumn setting beautifully. Burnt orange tablecloths paired with vivid florals arranged in delicate individual vases created such a striking contrast against the barn’s rustic textures. One of the most personal and meaningful details? Custom napkins featuring both Emily’s and Mike’s handwriting. (Cue collective “aww.”) And the dessert table? Let’s just say it was legendary — cupcakes, donuts… and yes, more donuts.
Now here’s a fun layer to their story: Emily and Mike are members of the coveted wedding industry (wink, wink). I knew them both for a few years before they asked me to photograph their celebration. They work at the Galilee Beach Club in Narragansett, where coastal charm meets casual elegance. And no, I didn’t borrow that from their website. I’ve photographed there many times, so I feel qualified to offer my own glowing review haha.
There’s something especially meaningful about being asked to photograph fellow industry professionals. It feels like a deep vote of confidence — a validation I don’t take lightly — and an opportunity to step into a colleague’s life in a way that isn’t always afforded. It truly is an honor.
And before I go any further, we need to talk about the fashion.
Mike’s green suit? Bold. Refined. So good. Emily’s gown? Romantic, ethereal, and fully supportive of my ongoing love affair with delicate wedding dress sleeves. Together, they were a whole vibe — and yes, I am absolutely here for it.
Speaking of their vibe, these two could absolutely author a book titled How to Delight Your Wedding Photographer by Being Amazing During Couple Portraits. (Honestly… should I write that? Stay tuned.) We had an incredible amount of time for portraits — both before and after the ceremony — which gave them space to simply be together. That time matters more than couples often realize. So much of a wedding day is centered around guests (as it should be!), but carving out intentional moments alone is such a gift. They embraced that fully, and it showed.
And of course, their people brought the energy. It was so evident how deeply loved and respected Emily and Mike are. The day was filled with joyful smiles, constant laughter, an impressive amount of dancing, and the kind of celebration that feels as good as it looks.
Truly, the best kind of day.
