Sandy Point Beach in Warwick is one of those hidden-gem locations that works beautifully for portraits of all kinds. Here in Rhode Island, we love a good beach moment — but let’s be honest, some of us (sometimes myself included!) have that very real Rhode Island mentality that driving all the way to the coast feels like… a lot. Enter Sandy Point Beach: an unassuming little coastal gem that offers many of the same vibes as Narragansett beaches, without the long(-ish) drive. 😉 From its peaceful shoreline to the tall, wispy reeds, Sandy Point provides a wonderful variety of backdrops — and if you time it just right, some truly beautiful golden hour light at sunset. Ryan’s Sandy Point senior portrait session featured all of that and then some.
When Ryan first reached out about his senior portraits, he mentioned two things he was hoping for: golden hour light and grassy fields. Surprisingly, Sandy Point delivers on both. Not a traditional grassy field exactly, but tall grasses that give off a similar feel — and honestly, I’m a fan. Add in the rocky shoreline (which I love for sitting, layering, and adding a little extra texture), and you’ve got plenty of variety in one location. The evening of Ryan’s session was warm and sun-kissed, with golden light filtering through the reeds and grasses just as the sun began to dip. It was exactly the kind of evening he had envisioned — and one of those sessions where the light really shows off.
Sessions like this are always a reminder that the experience matters just as much as the photos themselves. Ryan was incredibly sweet, easygoing, and an absolute pleasure to work with, which made the entire evening feel relaxed and fun from start to finish. Between the golden light, the coastal setting, and Ryan’s openness to the process, this Sandy Point senior portrait session came together in such a natural and effortless way — the kind of session that makes my job feel especially rewarding.
