Here it is again, friends. This is the session where I share my PSA every year about scheduling your family portraits. My sister has been SO CONSISTENT about making sure she gets a yearly photo of her daughter (my niece). Usually it happens around Elena’s birthday in May, but sometimes…life happens. And apparently last year, life really happened, because here we were in October. 😂 But in true reliable fashion, Elena’s Rhode Island kids portrait session still happened – just a few months later than usual.
More often than not, my sis makes it super convenient for me, and we photograph in my yard. As a result, one of my girls is usually around, and in this case, my daughter Avery made an appearance. She’d probably be annoyed with me for featuring her while she’s wearing what appears to be pajamas… but honestly, that’s basically everyday fashion for kids these days, so 🤷♀️ what can I say?
In any case, they have a really sweet relationship, and I think that comes through in these photos. Also, I can’t believe how grown up Elena looks now. Yes, she’s eleven here, but it’s hard to separate the preteen in front of you from the little girl you remember. 🥹 Her hair is so long and beautiful, she is so polite and smart, and I’m pretty sure she’s going to be taller than Avery by next year’s session!
It’s always fun photographing Elena because she’s totally on board with my silly ideas—like throwing leaves in the air and letting them fall in front of her face! Actually, that was kind of fun, and I’ll admit…..I may have made her do that…hmmmm….a hundred times haha. But I love adding movement in photos, so I also made her and Avery skip and jump. It’s almost like I am a puppeteer (insert evil laugh). I kid. Mostly.
And here is my PSA again. Book those family portrait sessions. Time goes by so fast, and before you know it, your kids are heading off to college. What’s next? Home ownership? Married? Their own KIDS? 😧 Ahhh. I’m spiraling.
But seriously…preserve those memories while you can. And when you are ready….call me. 😊
