I met up with Sam for her Warwick RI senior portrait session in late October of last year. We were definitely navigating some chilly temperatures that day, despite Sam’s very cute, warmer-weather-inspired outfits.
One of my favorite locations for senior portraits is Rocky Point State Park, mostly because of its versatility and scale. It’s a pretty big spot with lots of distinct backgrounds: ocean water, flowing reeds, sunlit trees, cool rock formations…it’s very inspiring. And with all the walking we did between locations, we definitely got our steps in for the day. Priorities.
Sam and I chatted quite a bit as we wandered around and paused for photos. Through our casual conversations, I realized she’s a girl after my own heart – someone who craves warm weather year-round. Same, Sam… same.
At the time of her session, she hadn’t decided on a school yet, but she knew two things for sure: she wanted to study out of state, and she wanted to be somewhere warm. Well, I follow Sam on Instagram, and I was excited to see that she’ll be attending UNCG this fall — the University of North Carolina at Greensboro!

Go Sam!
To be on the cusp of such a big new chapter must feel both exciting and a little surreal. College has a way of opening doors and shaping who you become, and I have no doubt Sam will absolutely thrive in this next phase.
So…..buh-bye dreary, endless Rhode Island winters, and hello sunshine and a bright new adventure in North Carolina!

Senior year is such a special time, and it deserves to be documented. If you’re interested in planning your own Rhode Island senior portrait session, feel free to get in touch – I’d love to work with you!
