Anastasia’s session was both a celebration of one of life’s proudest milestones and a somewhat bittersweet occasion. While her University of Rhode Island grad portrait photos were the main focus, she asked if a few of her friends could join in on the fun. As it turns out, while Anastasia is graduating, her friends are juniors and will be staying at URI for another year.
So yes, this session marked an incredible accomplishment, but it was also a poignant farewell to the friendships she has built throughout her college years. (I have no doubt they’ll remain close friends, of course – she just won’t get to see them every day anymore. 🙁)
Anastasia is an education major, and so are her friends. One of the sweetest details from her session was one of the sashes she wore, which featured the names of all her students. I mean, how adorable is that? What a meaningful keepsake to have and treasure for years to come.
We made our way around some of URI’s most iconic graduation photo locations, including the library and Greene Hall. As luck would have it, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. On the day of Anastasia’s session, a beautiful row of blossoming trees was in full bloom. The window to catch those blooms at their peak is incredibly short, and we happened to be there at exactly the right moment. Yay!
At times, the breeze was giving Anastasia’s hair a run for its money – which, by the way, looked fabulous the entire time – but honestly, I think the wind occasionally deserves props for its supporting role. I’m here for it! Anastasia was comfortable, natural, and completely at ease in front of the camera, which always makes my job a little easier 😉. Not to mention, she had her own personal hype crew there cheering her on every step of the way.
PSA: From now on, if you’re planning a grad session, bring your ride-or-dies along. Highly recommended. Haha.
Wishing Anastasia all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter!
