This blog post is going to be a little different because it features several sessions instead of just one. I had the honor of photographing four students for their Brown University graduation portraits this May, and rather than sharing each session separately, I thought it would be fun (and a bit more practical!) to showcase them all together. While every session had its own unique personality, they all took place on Brown’s beautiful campus, making that the common thread that ties these graduation portraits together.
Erin is a master’s student in Brown University’s School of Public Health, and earning her degree is an incredible accomplishment in what I can only imagine is both a challenging and rewarding field of study. She arrived with a kind and charming personality, wearing a graceful dress, beautifully complemented by her graduation regalia – a fitting reflection of everything she has achieved. Congratulations, Erin!

Marco’s graduation session was actually a gift from a friend, which I thought was such a thoughtful and generous gesture. After photographing so many graduation portraits, I completely understand the appeal of taking the time to document such an important milestone, and I’m so glad Marco had the chance to celebrate it this way as well. Also a student in Brown’s School of Public Health, Marco genuinely seems to have a zest for life. Even in the short time we spent together, his bright, warm personality shone through. I hope these images capture the enthusiasm and kindness that he shares so effortlessly. Congratulations, Marco!

Tori loves Legally Blonde, and her admiration for the movie even inspired part of her graduation session. Brown’s graduation regalia is, naturally, brown, but Tori wanted something that felt a little more her. In addition to the traditional cap and gown, she also forged her own path and chose pink attire as well! From her library carrel decorations to her picture-perfect graduation accessories, the Legally Blonde inspiration shines through in the best way. Furthermore, the university library also played a role in the creative direction of Tori’s session. Like Erin and Marco, Tori is also a student in Brown’s School of Public Health and spent much of her time in the library. After meeting these impressive graduates, I have a lot of hope for the future of our healthcare system. Congratulations, Tori, on such an incredible accomplishment!

Chenxi’s graduation portrait took place on Brown’s official graduation day, so the campus was buzzing with students, proud families, fellow graduates having their portraits taken, guest seating, and stages set up throughout the various quads. It was an exciting, celebratory atmosphere. Chenxi fit right in, bringing that same sense of joy and enthusiasm to her portrait session. Complete with balloons and pinwheels, her portraits felt whimsical and playful, and her sweet, cheerful energy was truly contagious. Congratulations to Chenxi, and best wishes for all that’s ahead!

Photographing these graduates was such a wonderful way to spend part of graduation season. Although each portrait session had its own personality and story to tell, they all celebrated the same incredible milestone – years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication. It was a privilege to document this exciting chapter for each of these students, and I hope these images will always remind them of everything they accomplished during their time at Brown. Congratulations again to Erin, Marco, Tori, and Chenxi, and wishing each of you all the very best in whatever comes next!
