As a wedding photographer, I photograph a lot of people and a lot of details. Wanting to explore some other facets of photography—and express creativity without the time constraints and subtle pressure that can come with weddings—I found that branding photography felt like a natural transition.
But if people don’t know you offer branding photography… how do you get the clients?
Sometimes, you ask your friends. Haha.
My friend and amazing fellow photographer Janet (you all know her) and her husband run a truly unique and innovative business in Warren, Rhode Island: Archive Book + Snackery. They graciously let me photograph a branding session for their business, and I’m so excited to finally share these images. Aren’t Janet and Uriah the best? The answer is yes—just in case you were wondering.
This branding session for Archive Book + Snackery was a chance to create imagery that reflects the heart of a small business in Warren, Rhode Island. Archive is a cozy, cool space where you can browse or read a book while enjoying a snack or drink (or two). They also host special events, private parties, and other celebrations. Most of the books are donated or thrifted, and the menu is eclectic and delicious, featuring imaginative cocktails and shareable plates.
Archive is the kind of place that quietly draws in locals while warmly welcoming newcomers at the same time. Its one-of-a-kind atmosphere and comfortable, inviting environment are both intriguing and familiar—and once you’ve experienced this little treasure (the Warren folks know), you’ll want to come back again and make it part of your regular “going out” routine.
Branding sessions like this one with Archive Book + Snackery are such a fun reminder of how meaningful thoughtful imagery can be for small businesses. Whether it’s capturing the personality of a space, the details that make it special, or the people behind the scenes, branding photography tells a story that goes far beyond a single image. I’m so grateful to Janet and Uriah for trusting me with their brand—and if you find yourself in Warren, do yourself a favor and stop by Archive. Grab a book, order a snack, and settle in. You’ll understand the magic right away.
